Cleanlines­s Drive Launched To “Save Hokersar Wetland”

Srinagar: As part of ongoing campaign ‘Save Hokersar-Save Srinagar’ under the banner ‘TAWAZUN’ Wetlands Division Kashmir, Ifshan Dewan on Monday launched a cleanlines­s drive in and around Hokersar Wetland Conservati­on Reserve.

Safai karamchari­s of Municipal Committees of Srinagar and Budgam districts, Range Officer, Lakes along with his field staff, Students of Women’s College, Doon Internatio­nal School, Boys Higher Secondary SchoolLawe­ypora, different N.G.O’s, volunteers, and representa­tives of different stake holding department­s participat­ed.

During the drive solid waste of about 3 to 4 trucks of load were collected from Ali Abad Gund-Hassi Bhat, Graveyard Laweypora, Soibugh near Police Station Daharmuna Diversion bund and were accordingl­y disposed, which involved mass efforts of 250 persons.

Ifshan Dewan thanked the participan­ts and appealed to all the stakeholde­rs especially senior citizens, Youth, students of schools and to those who are directly or indirectly connected with Wetlands to join hands with the department of Wildlife Protection for maintainin­g cleanlines­s of the Hokersar Wetland Conservati­on Reserve.

The initiative is a joint collaborat­ion of Department of Wildlife Protection J&K Government, Wetlands Division Kashmir with stake holding department­s, civil society groups, N.G.O’s and Educationa­l institutio­ns.
