Drunk CRPF Jawan 'Escapes' From Kotbhalwal Jail

Shoots at Two Govt Employees, Goes Absconding

Jammu- Two government employees were injured when a Central Reserve Police Force personal posted in highly guarded Koth Bhalwal jail- opened fire on them with his service weapon in Purkhoo area, here this morning. The assailant reportedly fled with the official weapon and four magazines from Kot Bhalwal jail before attacking the government employees. Though police and CRPF have launched a massive man hunt for his arrest he was said to be absconding till the last report came in.

Sources quoting, eyewitness­es said that Constable Dhokuo Dhmingel from Manipur of 26 Battalion was on guard duty when he went out of control and entered into verbal dual with his seniors at around midnight today.

"Dhmingel was dead drunk and all of a sudden he started teasing his senior officers", sources said adding, "The jawan fired few shots in air and later ran away with his official weapon and four magazines".

On reaching Purkho area along Jammu-Poonch road the accused entered into the premises of reservoir-cum-overhead water tank and demanded some cash from the employees of PHE posted on duty on gun-point.

It was reliably learnt that one of the employees Sham Lal gave him Rs 50 but it did not satisfied the dunked jawan. "He opened the nozzle of his gun injuring the PHE employees”, sources said.

They injured were identified as Sukhdev Singh Dailywager and Sham Lal Pump operator, bot employees of the PHE. They were rushed to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu, where their condition was stated to be critical.

The accused trooper; ran away with the gun from the spot and disappeare­d from the area. A massive man hunt was immediatel­y launched by police and CRPF to track down the jawan but no breakthrou­gh made till filing of this report.
