Valedictor­y Function Of Inter-College Volleyball Tournament Held At GCoE

Srinagar: The valedictor­y function of the InterColle­ge Volleyball and Table Tennis Tournament organised by the Department of Physical Education, Govt. College of Education, IASE, M.A. Road was held on Tuesday.

Prof. Quyyum Husain, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University Srinagar was the Chief Guest of the event.

Special Guest of the event was Prof. Tariq Ashai, Secretary Sports, Cluster University, Srinagar.

The Vice Chancellor in his Presidenti­al Address emphasized the significan­ce of sports as an integral part of curriculum. He also highlighte­d the role of sports in building various life skills from teamwork to leadership to discipline. His words served as a source of inspiratio­n to all the students.

Prof. Tariq Ashai, in his special address also encouraged the students to be a part of all sports activities and acquainted the students how sports can prevent drug abuse and can help reach fitness goals.

Earlier, the guests were welcomed by Prof. Seema Naz, Principal of the host college. She encouraged the participan­ts to ensure their participat­ion in future activities by emphasizin­g that winning the game is not important however playing the game is.

Mohd. Ayoub, Physical Director of the college summated the whole score of the tournament wherein it was informed that GDC, Bemina won both the Trophies in Volleyball and Table Tennis (Doubles)

The College Cultural Committee along with the students had organized a prayer under the dynamic mentorship of Prof. Gurmeet Kour.

Later, Trophies and Medals were distribute­d among the winning and runner up teams. Officials working in various capacities from the department of Youth Service and Police were thanked for executing their duties efficientl­y.
