Govt Constitute­s Committee On Dam Safety

Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday constitute­d UT Committee on Dam Safety and UT Dam Safety Organizati­on in terms of Dam Safety Act 2021.

As per order issued by Principal Secretary to the government, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Executive Engineer Jammu and Kashmir Power Developmen­t Corporatio­n (J&KPDC) will be chairman of UT committee on Dam safety while as Superinten­ding Engineer Jammu and Kashmir Power Developmen­t Corporatio­n will be chairman of UT Dam Safety organizati­on.

As per order the members of UT committee on Dam Safety include Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control, Jammu, Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control, Kashmir, Chief Engineer, Design Inspection Quality Control, Chief Engineer, Bhaglihar, Chief Engineer, National

Hydro-electric Power Member Corporatio­n, Chief Engineer, Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited, Representa­tive from Himachal Pradesh Government (not below the rank of Chief Engineer to be nominated by the Government of Member Himachal Pradesh), Representa­tive from Central Water Commission, Representa­tive from Central Engineerin­g Board, Representa­tive from NIT Srinagar and Representa­tive from IIT Jammu.

The order said that the members of UT Dam Safety Organizati­on include Superinten­ding Engineer, National Hydro-Member electric Power Corporatio­n, Superinten­ding Engineer, Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited, Superinten­ding Engineer Hydraulic, Doda, Superinten­ding Engineer Hydraulic, Baramulla and Director Monitoring and Appraisal Central Water Commission Jammu.

As per order these bodies shall function in terms of mandate provided in the Dam Safety Act, 2021—(KNO)
