De­fend­ing cham­pi­ons Pun­jab Roy­als will face Mum­bai Ma­harathi

DE­FEND­ING cham­pi­ons NCR Pun­jab Roy­als will aim for a hat-trick of ti­tles as they start their cam­paign in the muchawaited Pro Wrestling League (PWL) sea­son 4 opener against Mum­bai Ma­harathi at the Tau Devi Lal Sta­dium in Panchkula, Chandigarh, on Mon­day evening.

The Pun­jab Roy­als had de­feated Haryana Ham­mers in two con­sec­u­tive fi­nals in the last two sea­sons.

On Mon­day, world No. 1 in 65 Kg freestyle cat­e­gory Ba­jrang Pu­nia will lead the NCR Pun­jab Roy­als chal­lenge against Mum­bai Ma­harathi in the epic show­down. The Mum­bai Ma­harathi team will be led by Vi­nesh Phogat who re­cently be­came In­dia’s first women to win a gold medal at Asian Games. Vi­nesh will com­pete in 53kg weight cat­e­gory.

The Pro Wrestling League which has seen mas­sive ac­cep­tance by its fans in the last three sea­sons is back again with lot more glitz and glam­our in the fourth edi­tion. The fourth sea­son looks to fur­ther en­ter­tain its fans as it pre­pares to en­ter with a starstud­ded line-up with some of the most prom­i­nent wrestlers from around the world.

Ju­nior Asian Cham­pi­onship run­ner-up Naveen, will be seen wear­ing the NCR Pun­jab Royal colour in the 57 kg cat­e­gory. Apart from the two Asiad gold medal­lists, the evening will also see 2017 Euro­pean Cham­pi­onship sil­ver medal­list Zsanett Nemeth in the 76kg fe­male cat­e­gory com­pet­ing for Mum­bai Ma­harathi along with Pan-Amer­i­can Cham­pi­onship bronze medal­list Bet­z­a­beth An­gel­ica and na­tional cham­pion Harphool.

The for­mer world cham­pion Alina Stad­nik will be re­placed by Cyn­thia Ves­can who was a bronze medal­list at the re­cently con­cluded Euro­pean Cham­pi­onships held in Kaspiysk, Rus­sia.

here will be lot of ex­pec­ta­tion from Sachin Rathi and Deepak Pu­nia after their goldmedal win­ning show at the Ju­nior Asian Cham­pi­onships. Sachin in fact ended In­dia’s gold drought in the Ju­nior Asian Cham­pi­onship with a sen­sa­tional per­for­mance and he along with Deepak will play a ma­jor role in turn­ing things around for Mum­bai Ma­harathi.
