Kr­ish­na­p­at­nam Port and Con­cor launch rail ser­vice to Cen­tral In­dia

Kr­ish­na­p­at­nam Port as part of its mul­ti­modal con­nec­tiv­ity model, has launched a new weekly di­rect con­tainer rail ser­vice con­nect­ing the coun­try’s cen­tral re­gion to the east coast and be­yond, in as­so­ci­a­tion with Con­cor. The in­au­gu­ral train left Kr­ish­na­p­at­nam Port Con­tainer Ter­mi­nal on May 29, 2018 with a full load of Maersk Line im­port con­tain­ers. The new rail tran­sit will run a di­rect shut­tle ser­vice be­tween ICD Nag­pur to KPCT in a record 55 hours at com­pet­i­tive freight rates. The ser­vice is set to of­fer huge ben­e­fits for ex-im ship­ments be­tween Cen­tral In­dia and trade des­ti­na­tions like China, the Far East, Aus­tralia, Bangladesh and West Africa, among oth­ers.
