Marwar - - ALL THINGS [ Great and Small ] -

According to newspaper reports, Phillips Carbon Black Limited (PCBL), a part of RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, plans to set up a greenfield carbon black plant in Tamil Nadu, besides going in for brownfield expansion in two of its existing plants in Dahej and Palej over the next two years, for a combined expenditure of `900 crore. The move is envisaged to raise the company’s production capacity by 50 per cent to seven lakh tonnes. Apart from these, the company also has plants in Mundra and Durgapur. Carbon black is used as a reinforcing agent in tyres. It gives stability and hardness to tyres and also their characteristic black colour. Besides tyres, carbon black is used in a number of other industries.
