SANJAY JAIN
What was the rationale behind your career move towards being one of the Med tech influential leader?
As we know India is a densely populated country with a scarcity of medical facilities, the population per bed ratio is very high; similar is the case with doctorpatient ratio. We filled this enormous gap with a solution which can help hospitals to operate more efficiently, utilize the resources effectively and can take care of more patients without compromising the quality of patient care. Akhil Systems came into existence 27 years ago and since then, we have nurtured the growth of modern healthcare industry. Our primary objective was to bring automation in the administrative, billing, diagnostic, pharmacy and supply chain areas to eliminate human errors, reduce turnaround time and push the productivity to the new limits. Presently, we have launched our Teleconsultation app to ensure every citizen, irrespective of his/ her physical location to receive worldclass virtual consultation experience.
Under Miracle brand, a range of solutions like Miracle HIS, Miracle EMR, Miracle Diagnostic, Miracle Clinic and Miracle College Management etc are available. It’s not just about automation, but taking healthcare services and patient care to next level of medical perfection.
How has e-healthcare technology proved to be an effective tool in transforming administrative and clinical operations during these unprecedented times?
E-healthcare technology is based on the idea of disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, as well as patient monitoring and health management. Ongoing Coronavirus (Covid-19) has shown us how unprepared our modern hospitals were against a pandemic of this colossal level. The healthcare sector is at the epicenter of this unprecedented global pandemic challenge. Among added effects, hospitals are required to reserve beds, create isolation wards, and rally additional workforce, in addition to arranging for adequate high-oxygen masks and ventilators. This pandemic has opened up new sense of the technical innovation, we developed whole new range of solution for Contactless Consultation (Tele consultation), Remote Patient Monitoring and Home Care (Health at Home) segment. We launched our new EMR version integrated with Miracle Teleconsultation app which was warmly welcomed in the Indian and overseas market.
What are your future endeavors for the medical industry as a leading Med Tech innovator?
We are a global healthcare IT organization aiming towards fully integrated digital healthcare solution and connect all the stakeholders within a digital framework. Akhil Systems is investing heavily on modern technologies like AI and ML to be used to predictive diagnosis,
treatment , defining clinical pathways etc. , use of NLP (Voice recognition) in EMR for consultants, integration with IOT devices such as mask scanners, wearable devices, wrist watches and bands etc; to effectively collect data in real time; Bots for patients engagement , RPA in different critical back office process, CDSS in clinical care and other specialty-based advance EMR system are just a few of the areas where fresh breakthroughs are taking place. We are now at stage 6 of the EMR level, and we will achieve level 7 in no time allowing the organisations to work in a fully digitised environment, and to deliver the 360 degrees of patient care and safety. Our other plans involve the development of a common platform in the form of an insurance gateway by embedding revenue cycle management into the application, minimising the time between servicing and payment authorization. It will lessen the hospital staff's effort and ensure a smooth workflow. We are also venturing into Home Care solutions to provide remote care to elderly or specially abled patients at home and connect them to the nearest hospitals round the clock.

These unprecedented times affected the healthcare industry to its core. How can the Med Tech industry help contribute to patient care?
We all have witnessed the capabilities of the modern technology in coping against the fury of the nature in the face of Covid-19. Teleconsultation have emerged as one of the most rejuvenating service that is playing a crucial role in reducing infection rate during Covid. The teleconsultation platform also allows medical services to cover rural and remote areas. Using optimized technological advancements, the platform can store data digitally and then use analytical trends in the available data for health planning. Following the pandemic, HIS adoption has been increased, and healthcare is now moving to a digital platform, which not only helps to reduce infection transmission but also allows us to use available resources effectively and efficiently. The introduction of M-health apps has aided in connecting people with healthcare providers, thus facilitating healthcare accessibility, which is one of the most important aspects of patient care. Furthermore, the medical technology industry has provided cheap and safer options such as sensors, wearable devices for patient monitoring, chatbots, robotic assistance, and many more than the existing options to ensure patient safety and thus help contribute to patient care.
What are your key learnings during these unprecedented times?
Firstly, and foremostly, we have learned that no matter how divided we are on a regular day on the basis of country, race and religion, but actually we are one enormous global family. Today, if we are pacing towards elimination of Covid-19, that is only happening because we are fighting against it as a species and not as an individual. The pandemic has taught us the importance of automating a healthcare facility along with the upgrading of their IT architecture. Most of the small hospitals or clinics running on the manual operations were shut down due to their incapability to manage the patients without establishing a contact (touch) with the patient. We have felt a strong need of digitalising the medical facility for better patient experience and improved clinical outcomes. Technologies like AI, CDSS, and Virtual OPDs offer huge potential in instances where people are unable to get healthcare services. They are not only more convenient than traditional organizational processes, but they also make healthcare more accessible. To streamline the digitalization in healthcare it is very important to refine the IT infrastructure of Indian healthcare.
