While the budget focuses on the right macro economic fundamentals in general like increased Capex to spur the economic growth, focus on digital health, avoidance of populist measures it falls short on healthcare and specifically medical device industry expectations
1. The outlay from last year is virtually unchanged despite India ranking 179 out of 189 countries in terms of spend on Healthcare as % of GDP
2. Pandemic showed Indian industry's capability to rise against any challenge swiftly but still the sector was largely ignored
3. We had demanded a PMP , creation of a medtech innovation fund, reduction of duty on components of import dependent devices amongst a few but all the demands were ignored
