ADAPT AND ACCELERATE INNOVATIVE TECHNIQUES FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING

-

Post Pandemic Business immunization -Reconciliation/consolidation/ Backward or Forward Integration/ Diversification

During and post pandemic we have seen a great shift in the digital adoption in healthcare with supportive government measures. Also, the diagnostic segment has attracted funding from private equity companies/ firms which has motivated many startups to grow aggressively.

The market now seems to be divided into online and offline players. New offline players have entered the diagnostic space which brings in huge opportunity and rising competitive intensity. Now, there seems to be more organized players in the market and the consolidation of smaller laboratories by bigger diagnostic chains is bringing in a lot of change in the diagnostic space and testing.

At HORIBA, we always cater to the market requirements with the most cost-effective solutions for our customers. On the business front our mantra for 2022 is “Konnect & Excelerate” – with focus on enhancing connect with customers and accelerating the business.

As a Healthcare & Medtech professional, give your insight on latest technology adopted by HORIBA?

HORIBA always envisions to adapt and accelerate innovative techniques for diagnostic testing. We have been devising techniques and newer tests with upgraded equipment and implementing the latest software applications to scale-up to the demand of tests, all the while maintaining quality, accuracy, and affordability.

I believe adaptability is the key and we all should strive to bring in new technology and application in diagnostics for coming time.

Our high-end Hematology product line, HELO (HORIBA Evolutive Laboratory Organisation) is a perfect fit to address the new challenges. It is a promising solution for every highend, high-workload medical laboratory as it offers reliable automation with high throughput and digital technologies enabling clinicians and pathologists to spend more time with patients with technology doing the routine operations. It can even classify the WBCS into Immature sub classes Immature Granulocytes, Immature Monocytes and Immature Lymphocytes and has additional features like Low Value Count, MIC & MAC% for every CBC analysis. This enables the customers to have added differential matrix and to obtain more clinical information. Additionally, it also offers the Optical Platelet Count and the automated Reticulocyte profile, therefore completing the hematology test menu.

HORIBA also offers a compact 6-Diff hematology analyzer “Yumizen H550” with an auto sampling system which aims at providing a full walk away capability to a variety of clinical environments: hospitals, satellite labs, emergency care, small independent labs, and doctors’ offices. It is based on innovative technology with only ‘2 reagents for analysis’ where the reagent consumption is low and requires minimum inventory management. Yumizen H550 gives flags for infections like Dengue and Malaria (Plasmodium falciparum & Plasmodium vivax) without any additional cost of reagent. It also offers NLR (Neutrophil-lymphocyte Ratio) value, which helps in screening and monitoring of patients with COVID-19 infection, and is a prognostic marker for cardiovascular diseases, infections, inflammatory diseases and several types of cancers.

Let us know your success story to inspire others?

HORIBA India started direct operations in 2010. At that point we had limited market share and were only confined to 3-part Hematology in Tier-2/tier-3 cities.

We took a paradigm shift on our approach to become selfreliant and introduced the first manufacturing facility at Haridwar for Hematology in India in 2013. Soon this started yielding results with business outcome and slowly we entered and established ourselves in the lab chain business. We are a preferred partner amongst premier lab chains.

We launched YUMIZEN series in 2016 and increased our market share in the entry level 5-part segment. With the motive of getting into elite clientage we launched the flagship concept of HELO, created CENTRES OF EXCELLENCE pan India and a separate department of medico-scientific team to ensure customer delight.

With the increasing demand of indigenous manufacturing, we plan to invest further into India’s largest hematology manufacturing facility at Nagpur. This facility is a state-ofthe-art manufacturing facility also housing the unique concept of HITI and HEZ.

My success is my team, I strongly believe that a good team is an asset for the organization. The connect within our team is very strong which creates a domain that energizes right conduct, ethical business practices and enhanced performance for the organization.

At HORIBA, we always cater to the market requirements with the most cost-effective solutions for our customers. On the business front our mantra for 2022 is “Konnect & Excelerate” – with focus on enhancing connect with customers and accelerating the business.
