Otis India launches Gen2 MOD 'green' elevator

MGS Architecture - - News -

Otis India’s latest ‘Green’ modernization package for the Indian elevator market is based on the technology of its flagship product, the Gen2 elevator family. Apart from upgrading the elevator, the new Gen2 MOD will bring elevators in need of renovation up-to-date with the latest technology in safety, comfort and environmental standards as well as enhance passenger experience. The Gen2 MOD will be provided from Otis India’s factory in Bengaluru. It features the steel-coated, flat-belt technology; space-saving, compact gearless machine, Pulse™, Regen™ drive and energy-efficient operation. It offers great customer value as it employs a smart- retention program where reusable parts from the older system are retained in the new system. This further aids in minimal interference with the structural part of the building, reduces the downtime period and minimizes inconvenience to residents. Said Sebi Joseph, President, Otis India, “Otis installed the first elevator in India over 125 years ago in 1892. Since then 500,000 lifts have been installed in India. We estimate more than 30,000 lifts require urgent modernization in country right now.” The overall benefits of the Gen2 Modernization are:

• Better system performance with smoother ride quality and enhanced safety features

• Energy savings up to 70% compared to elevators with legacy technology

• Up to 80% smaller machine resulting in improved space management

• No lubrication required for the coated seat belts

• Retention of dead-weight and non-moving components of the elevator while modernizing, resulting in less disruption of the building and better cost-saving

• New aesthetics and fixtures in cabin

• Enhanced safety and value of the property Otis, a leading manufacturer and maintainer of elevators, escalators and moving walkways, and combines science with precision engineering to create smart, sustainable solutions.
