Af­ter a hia­tus in 2008-09 due to the fi­nan­cial cri­sis the MICE seg­ment in China is rapidly com­ing up from its in­fancy stage. Es­pe­cially, with the 2010 Shang­hai World Expo ap­proach­ing the MICE in­dus­try is get­ting greater at­ten­tion. MICEtalk takes a closer look at one of the lead­ing ho­tels cater­ing to the ris­ing de­mand for MICE in Shang­hai,

Stand­ing proud and tall, the Fair­mont Peace Ho­tel over­looks the Huangpu River and boasts a his­tory that over­shad­ows that of any other ho­tel in the far East. Placed in the so­cial heart of Shang­hai it has been the most de­sired venue for the coun­try’s elite. The op­u­lence and rich decor af­ter its restora­tion has boosted up the trav­ellers vis­it­ing the lux­u­ri­ous ad­dress from around the globe. A large seg­ment of these dis­cern­ing guests are from the MICE in­dus­try.
