Past event
Hawai’i hosted the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Leaders Meeting (APEC) in November 2011, bringing political and business leaders from 21 nations to Hawai’i. The event was a success despite the challenges of having people from different cultures. Hawai’i’s private and public sector had prepared extensively for APEC by investing millions of dollars in infrastructure improvements. Groups coming to Hawai’i now enjoy the benefits of these improvements. Hawai’i has a 4.166 per cent general excise tax (4.712 on O’ahu) for most business activities and a 9.25 per cent accommodation tax. For more information www.hawaii.gov/tax
