Meeting Spaces

The sheer scope and scale of present and future demand is staggering. However, the lack of convention spaces to handle all the criteria for size, stage, setting and IT requirements is affecting the numbers and domestic business is moving to alternate countries. Especially with regard to India, the lack of infrastructure is damaging the potential. Small hotels and meeting spaces have led to a decrease in the number of international delegates participating in conferences organised in India. Sarab Jit Singh, President, Indian Tourist Transporters Association and Senior Vice President, Indian Association of Tour Operators, proclaims, “The state governments need to rise up and stake claim as they are the ones who benefit from MICE activities. The plan on the cards to increase the number of convention spaces in major Indian states along with heightened awareness for promotion of India as a MICE destination should be realised with target checks every couple of years.”
