Rupak Gupta, Joint Managing Director, Clarks Group of Hotels, shares his views on increasing MICE opportunities in Agra, “MICE is an integral part of our business. We want to increase this segment and are gearing up the hotel to attract more of this traffic. We’re working towards increasing meeting space with a new convention hall large enough to host 1500 people, divisible into three parts. We’re going to have it ready for use by the summer. I am also confident about Agra emerging as a popular MICE venue since the dollar effect has caused MICE planners to focus on domestic destinations to save their budgets. Going to Agra now, takes as much time as it takes to reach Manesar, with the new Yamuna Xpress way . It’s a clean, quick and refreshing experience with short travel times and more flexibility.” Throwing light on their strategy to invite more MICE, he adds, “MICE planners need to work in advance. We’re looking forward to reversing the trend of just booking for peak season well in time. If a corporate books both for the season of summer and winter we offer very attractive rates. Moreover, with events like the literary fest, an art cinema fest, Zakir Hussain playing in the hotel, we have so much to attract tourists to the hotel. It’s now Agra’s time to be in the limelight.”
