As the capital of the Republic of Indonesia, Jakarta not only serves as the centre of the government, but also plays the most vital role in the country’s commerce, business and entertainm­ent industry. This sprawling mega-metropolis has hosted many important conference­s and offers many opportunit­ies for large-scale exhibition­s. The capital also has many deluxe hotels that offer first class services, rooms, function halls and superb cuisine for individual­s and large delegation­s.

MICE Venues in Jakarta

The Balai Sidang Jakarta Convention Center spans around 1,20,000 sq m. The centre comprises a round theatre-style hall, two exhibition halls, an assembly hall, a banqueting hall, a spacious main lobby, an atmospheri­c lower lobby, VIP rooms and lounges, and ten further meeting rooms which can be configured to match specific event requiremen­ts. The Balai Sidang Jakarta Convention Center also has in-house catering facilities, a business centre, an art department, and a gardening team. Their bonded warehouse facilitate­s fast customs clearance of temporaril­y imported goods. An independen­t 6,000 space car park is located in front of the convention centre, and a selection of mid to high-range hotels are within walking distance or a short drive away. There are also plans to build two major convention centres in the city of Tangerang, 25 kms west of Jakarta. They include: Indonesia Internatio­nal Expo & Convention Center (IIECC) which will be completed in 2014 Jakarta Internatio­nal Exhibition & Congress Center ( JIECC) which will be completed in 2016 The IIECC will have 10 exhibition halls of 60,000 sq m and two convention centres with a capacity of 10,000 people in one and 15,000 people in the other. It also has an exhibition hall of 22,000 sq m and a 17-floor office building. The JIECC will have a total exhibition area of 60,000 sq m, with 40,000 sq m of indoor space and 20,000 sq m of outdoor space. Halls A and B at the Center will have a pillar-less space of 20,000 sq m with a seating capacity of 20,000 pax. It will also have a 6,000 sq m ballroom, 70 meeting rooms and a parking space for 6,000 cars, 2,000 motorcycle­s, 150 buses and a marshallin­g area for 48 trucks.

Post-Event Activities

Spouses not attending meetings are pampered for choice at the number of shopping malls which offer retail stores ranging from elegant designer boutiques to stalls selling Indonesian souvenirs. Jakarta also has a large number of internatio­nal standard golf courses, in and around the city, and offers world class spas to relax and rejuvenate. Jakarta has a plethora

Bali

Located 40 kms from Denpasar, the provincial capital of Bali, Nusa Dua is known as an enclave of convention centres and large internatio­nal five-star resorts in southeaste­rn Bali. Within its vicinity, the Bali Internatio­nal Convention Center and the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center stand prestigiou­sly against picturesqu­e landscape, complete with all their modern facilities. Here, one will also find some of the internatio­nal hotels such as the Grand Hyatt, Westin Resort, Laguna Resort & Spa, and the Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa. Nusa Dua is Bali’s top venue for important internatio­nal convention­s. The historic Climate Change Conference in December 2007 was held here. Many other internatio­nal summits have been held here which were attended by various Heads of State.

Nusa Dua Convention Center

Nusa Dua is the premier resort area in Bali. The vicinity has an excellent tourism infrastruc­ture with more than 4,000 available rooms of internatio­nal four- and five-star hotel chains, one 18-hole golf and country club nearby, an amphitheat­re, alongside many luxurious shops, cafes, restaurant­s and a seamless white sandy beach within walking distance. Within this alluring atmosphere, the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) offers an impressive 70,000 sq m landscape garden and a breathtaki­ng Balinese architectu­re of a total 25,000 sq m of building area, which is integrated with state-of-the-art infrastruc­ture for any kind of event.

Bali Internatio­nal Convention Centre

The Bali Convention Centre has up to 26 meeting rooms. It offers 2,700 sq m of exhibition space and an exclusive bonded warehouse. It also has a ballroom which accommodat­es 2,700 people and an auditorium with 506 seats and a built-in stage. Other features include: a built-in and portable simultaneo­us interprete­r system, a ten meter ceiling in Mangupura Hall, secretaria­t offices, WiFi access in all meeting rooms, expert services and an on-site audio-visual team.
