Get Your Act Together
The last few years have witnessed a rapid growth in the event management industry. From small community projects and conferences to mega outdoor shows, these companies are putting together all it takes to help create a successful event in the most cost effective and time efficient manner. Sarvjit Singh, Director, Divine Event Management Private Limited, tells us about what the clients are looking for and what it takes to pull off a successful show.
What does a corporate look for when they pick service provider?
Budget is of course the key ingredient. Besides that they look at the service providers profile— experience, past events, quality of work, reliability, resources, innovative ideas, credibility and word of mouth references help a lot.
As an event agency, what do you look for in a MICE venue?
After the client has told us about their requirements, there are certain parameters that we need to look into before finalising a venue. The key ingredients are of course budget, easy accessibility, capacity to hold the convention, number of rooms in the hotel, quality of audio-video facilities, connectivity through shuttle service or other means of road transportation, F&B standards and local sightseeing options.
Do you prefer venues in metropolitan or non-
metropolitan cities and why?
This depends upon the client requirements. However, for conferences, delegations, conventions and dealer meets, we prefer metropolitan cities, but for offsites, leisure tours or incentive tours, we prefer nonmetropolitan cities.
What aspect of the conventions do you look after yourself in-house and what functions do you outsource?
The venue selection, fabrication, audio-video requirements and designing are all in-house, whereas transportation and printing are outsourced.
How do you decide whether a particular event was successful?
We make sure we get a feedback from the clients externally. They tell us if we have catered to their needs and adhered to their meeting requirements with the highest quality standards and met timelines internally.
