Big victory for India at the Kumite 1 League

Mid Day - - UP & ABOUT -

AFTER the successful conclusion of the first edition of the Kumite 1 League, last week at Dome, NSCI in Mumbai, the founders have already started prep to take the league worldwide. The first mixed martial arts league of India, Kumite 1 League, backed by Toyam Industries, recognised by All India MMA Federation (AIMMAF) is India’s only central government recognised non-profit federation that regulates all the contests of unarmed combat. The first league was held between India and UAE, which saw India win the title. Boxing legend Mike Tyson, brand ambassador of Kumite 1 League, supported and motivated the fighters. Sheikh Bin Tahnoon, Prince of Abu Dhabi, was also seen at the do. “The support that K1L received from the audience and media is proof enough that a country, which was once obsessed with only cricket, is ready to welcome other sports. It is not the lack of interest, but the deficit of infrastructure that MMA has not been taken up as a serious sport this far. But after Team India’s win over UAE, we have seen that there is no dearth of home-grown talent. We, at Toyam, believe we have taken a step in the right direction,” says Mohammed Ali Budhwani, promoter – K1 and CMD, Toyam Industries.
