9 days ahead of polls, BJP’s N Dinajpur prez changed

-

KOLKATA: Barely nine days before polls in North Dinajpur, BJP changed its district president. On Tuesday, the party issued a notification to replace its existing district president Biswajit Lahiri.

The party gave the charge to Basudeb Sarkar. However, as reported Lahiri was seen on the stage along with Amit Shah during his public meeting in Hemtabad Assembly constituency on Monday evening. The district unit received the directive ahead of Amit Shah's visit to the district for poll campaign. Meanwhile, the change of leadership has led to resentment among the BJP workers in the district, sources claimed. As per the sources, Sarkar is close to the party's central leadership and Raiganj MP Debasree Choudhury. 9 ACs in the district will go to polls on April 22 during the sixth phase of the state Assembly polls.
