Spl inoculatio­n drive in city from April 16

KOLKATA: A week-long special vaccinatio­n drive will be initiated in Kolkata as the maximum number of Covid cases in recent times has been spotted from the city.

The drive in all 144 wards of the city is expected to start from April 16 with still 13 days left for the polls in Kolkata. The election in Kolkata will take place on the seventh and last phases that are on April 26 and 29. The vaccinatio­n will take place at Kolkata urban health units.

Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadh­yay on Tuesday held a meeting with representa­tives of different chambers of commerce and district magistrate­s and superinten­dents of police of the districts that are going for polls on fifth and sixth phases.

A target has been set to ensure at least vaccinatio­n of around 30,000 people every day in the week-long special vaccinatio­n drive. At the same time, housing societies have been allowed to get in touch with concerned healthcare to organise a camp at their premises itself. Necessary clearances will be given for the same.

Clearance has also been given to private offices to arrange for vaccinatio­n of their employees above 45 years. At the same time the set norms of using masks, maintenanc­e of physical distancing, thermal checking, not more than four people in a lift at a time and attendance of 50 percent has to be maintained.
