LOCAL TRAINS NOT CANCELLED, SAYS ER

KOLKATA: Eastern Railway on Thursday refuted media reports claiming that 17 local trains were cancelled after rise in the COVID-19 infection among railway employees. “Less number of local trains were running in the Howrah division on account of Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14 .There is no cancellation of local train services,” said Ekalabya Chakraborty, Chief Public Relations Officer of Eastern Railway. Sources said about 31 guards in the Howrah division were affected by Coronavirus. This apart, three ticket examiners from Howrah also tested positive.
