Six lakh doses of Covishield arrive
Many journalists have already fallen victim to Covid
KOLKATA: Around 6 lakh doses of Covishield arrived in the city on Friday. The vaccination process slowed down slightly in some Covid vaccination centres (CVCs) across the state due to shortage of vaccination doses. On Wednesday, 3 lakh doses of Covishield and 2 lakh doses of Covaxin arrived.
Vaccination programme was conducted by the state government at Kolkata Press Club on Friday. Doctors and nurses from NRS Medical College and Hospital administered the doses on 83 journalists and photojournalists. The entire vaccination process was monitored by the state
Health department. Kolkata Press Club already supported the demand raised by the Press Council of India, Press Club of India and Editors Guild to vaccinate the journalists below the age of 45. In a statement, the Kolkata Press Club stated that vaccination of journalists below 45 is crucial as the Covid infection is going up in rapid space. Meanwhile, many journalists have already fallen victim to Covid.
