Fire at med store: Many vials of vaccine feared destroyed

KOLKATA: A fire broke out at a government-run medicine store situated adjacent to the office of the Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Health at Barasat in North 24-Parganas late on Friday night. As many as 12 fire tenders were pressed into action to douse the flames. Medicines which were stocked at the store were completely gutted.

It is assumed that many vials of Covid vaccines kept at the medicine store were also destroyed in the fire. The extent of the damages is yet to be confirmed by the Health department. According to the police, the fire broke out at around 2 am and it soon engulfed the entire store.
