IndiGo announces new domestic, int’l flight routes from Kolkata

KOLKATA: The IndiGo airline has announced new flight routes from Kolkata airport, in both the domestic and internatio­nal sectors, while also launching additional flights in some existing routes.

The airline has decided to further augment its flight services from the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Internatio­nal (NSCBI) Airport in Kolkata. Presently, the airline has announced new flight routes from the city. A total of three new routes were announced which includes one internatio­nal and two domestic.

In the internatio­nal sector, the new route is from Kolkata to Bangkok. The carrier will fly to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhu­mi Internatio­nal Airport (BKK) twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays. In the domestic sector, it has introduced daily flights to Surat Internatio­nal Airport (STV) in Gujarat, and to Rajiv Gandhi Internatio­nal Airport (HYD) in Hyderabad.

It is learnt that the airline will begin operating its Bangkok route from June 3 and to Surat and Hyderabad from July 3. The airline has also announced additional flights from Kolkata to Bengaluru and Goa. These flights will operate from June 26.

A statement by Vinay Malhotra, head of Global Sales at IndiGo, read: “At IndiGo, we remain dedicated to expanding domestic and internatio­nal connectivi­ty, and are pleased to further strengthen our network from Kolkata… We will continue to explore more opportunit­ies to deliver on our promise of providing affordable, ontime services across our unparallel­ed network.”

On Tuesday, the Kolkata Airport authoritie­s shared that in the last three days, NSCBI airport facilitate­d operations of 1087 flights, in which 146787 domestic and 21,171 internatio­nal passengers travelled.
