MCDS brace for Janmashtam­i fervour in Capital

NEW DELHI: Expecting a huge number of devotees on the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtam­i on Thursday, South MCD has increased deployment of sanitation workers around popular temples in the area. Besides, parking arrangemen­ts and traffic diversions have also been made near the famous Iskon temples in South Delhi and some other temples of Lord Krishna.

The Chairman, Standing Committee, Shailender Singh Monti informed that sanitation personnel in adequate numbers have been deployed around Iskon temple, Chhatarpur temple and other major colonies in the colonies to ensure proper cleanlines­s. “Large number of devotees turns up in these temples; hence, it becomes imminent to deploy additional personnel to attend to the immediate need of sanitation. The SDMC has instructed the staff to complete cleanlines­s before turning up of the devotees,” said Monti.

The SDMC has also exhorted the devotees to keep the area around temple clean and not to throw any wrappers and other used articles in open. Dustbins have been kept around temples; the devotees are requested to make use of them. As weathermen have predicted rain on Janmastami, the SDMC has alerted the staff concerned to take care of waterloggi­ng immediatel­y. Monti added that proper fogging has been completed in the area around major temples in South Delhi. Further checking for larvae has also been conducted around the temples.

The Mayors of North and East MCDS have also asked the sanitation department­s to conducted proper cleaning before and after the festival for which additional sanitation workers have been deployed.
