Ggn’s pvt colonies await maintenance as transfer to MCG still to happen

- PIYUSH OHRIE

GURGAON: The maintenance of about 20 private residential colonies of Gurgaon is getting severely affected due to delay of their transfer to Gurgaon Municipal Corporation.

Some of the prominent colonies that are expected to come under MCG are five phases of DLF City, Ansals Sushant Lok, Unitech South city and Suncity.

The residents in some of these colonies are complaining that at a time when there is crisis of dengue and chikungunya in NCR, poor cleanliness is only adding to the risk.

Certain resident welfare associations and citizen groups are exerting pressure on the MCG for the quick takeover of the private residential colonies.

Recently, there was even a hunger strike held for a day near the district office on August 23 for the speedy takeover of the private colonies.

In emphasising that the private builders are charging a heavy maintenance fee and not doing enough in the upkeep of the colonies, R S Rathee, President Gurgaon Citizens Council said: “Haryana government has already issued a notification for takeover of private colonies by MCG but so far no action has been taken.” The delay is causing complete chaos in the area as no agency is looking after the maintenance related works. In highlighting that most of the private colonies have poor sewage systems, unclean and suffer from lack of security, Rathee asked for an audit of the maintenance fees and the external development charges issued by the builders.

The senior officials of MCG told Millennium Post that they are waiting for the maintenance dues of the private builders to get cleared before they can take over.

Meanwhile, the RWAS and citizen groups have already requested the citizens to not pay the maintenance fee to the private developers.

Rama Bakshi, who is a resident of DLF Phase-3 said: “Not only is the person who is responsible for the collection of the garbage not coming for few days but even cleanliness of the surroundings is not being paid attention to.”
