NEW DELHI: Delhi Police have arrested a dismissed BSF head constable for his involvement in a case related to criminal breach of trust and cruelty towards his wife.

The accused was identified as Rahul Arora (36), a resident of South Delhi.

He used to be a Head Constable with the Border Security Force and was dismissed from the service since he left his duties without informing the force.

According to police, he was having a troubled marriage with his wife with whom he had a son out of wedlock.

In the year 2010, he left his wife and a two-year-old son and went to Dehradun (Uttarakhand) in hiding and never returned after which the woman registered a case against him.

“Rahul Arora did not bother to join the investigation despite several reminders by the IO and later he went into hiding. He was declared a proclaimed offender at the time of filing of charge-sheet,” police said.

Later in June 2016, a reward of Rs 50,000 was announced for his arrest by a court.

Police claimed that on January 14, the accused was arrested from Chattarpur area.

“Arora was good in water sports and it was because he excelled in this field that he was able to secure a job in the force as a Head Constable in 1998,” said a senior police official.

Rahul Arora had left the house without telling anyone about his new location and started working as a labourer in order to earn his livelihood in Dehradun and later returned to Delhi.

It was in Delhi that he met his new live-in partner and started working with her as an event coordinator. They have been living together for the past three years. The accused has been booked under the appropriate sections of law.
