NEW DELHI: A dead body of a 22-year-old woman was found behind gate number one of Jamia Milia Islamia University in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. The cops suspect that she was murdered somewhere else and the body was dumped in the lonely lane.

Early morning on Tuesday, the cops received a call that a dead body of a girl was lying in a lane between Jamia University and Holy Family Hospital. It was the guards of Jamia University who spotted the dead body that laid hidden in the bushes at the backside of the hospital. The guard informed the police and soon the cops from New Friends Colony visited the crime scene and secured the area.

The girl who was wearing dark blue jeans and sky blue top and a dark blue jacket is still unidentified. The girl was also found wearing a ring on one of her finger. The cops have formed several teams to identify the victim and find the accused. Locals in the area say that the murderer would have dumped the body taking advantage of the darkness at night. The cops are checking with different police stations if a girl of her age and description has been reported missing or not.

Though the body is yet to be identified, cops suspect that the accused is from the locality.

“We have got some initial clues and are working on them. The woman seems to have been strangulated. We have registered a case of murder and destruction of evidence and are investigating,” said a senior police officer.

The lane is a lonely stretch just behind the Holy Family Hospital and the cops suspect that the accused is well aware of the topography of the area.
