NEW DELHI: The Delhi government will seek the help of researchers across the country to get “authenticated” details of unknown martyrs and freedom fighters for uploading them on a dedicated website launched last year for such personalities.

Delhi Labour Minister Gopal Rai said the government would hold a national conference on freedom fighters in March this year where history researchers, giving their services in universities, will be invited to provide details of unknown martyrs and freedom fighters.

The move came days after the Minister had written to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and all Chief Ministers seeking details on unknown Indian martyrs and freedom fighters.

“We will write to all Central and state universities and request them to send their history teachers, who are doing research, to national conference which is expected to be held in March this year,” Rai said.

He said, in the conference, the government will seek help of researchers in collecting details of unknown martyrs and freedom fighters if they have, so that we could it could be upload on website shaheedkosh.delhi.gov.in.

The website dedicated to martyrs and freedom fighters had been launched by the Delhi government on the occasion of 110th birth anniversary of Bhagat Singh in September.
