Mom throws child down the stairs: Custody given to maternal uncle
NEW DELHI: The Child Welfare Committee handed over the custody of the child who was injured in a brutal attack by his mother to his maternal uncle. The mother of the child, against whom the cops earlier registered a case for throwing her child from stairs, has joined the police probe.
In a CCTV footage, an enraged mother was shown throwing her two-and-a-halfyear-old baby from the stairs of her house allegedly following an argument with her inlaws in South-east Delhi’s Pul Prahladpur area. The incident was captured in the CCTV cameras installed in the house and later the cops registered a case under Section 308 of the IPC.
The shocking CCTV footage that shows the recording date as January 11, shows the family members rushing downstairs to save the child. The cops say that the baby was taken to AIIMS Trauma Center with blunt injuries on the face and body.
It is learnt from sources that the couple had a love marriage but the girl’s family did not approve of it. The girl is said to be short tempered and there has been a history of arguments between her and the in-laws.
Though police sources say that the family had made PCR calls earlier too, throwing the child has come up for the first time.
“The mother of the child has joined the investigation and the custody of the child has been given to the maternal uncle. We are further investigating the case and examining the footage provided,” said DCP South-east Romil Baniya.
