NEW DELHI: After mostwanted gangster Manjeet Mahal’s father was gunned down, the police have carried out a threat assessment in the area and want to avert revenge killings in the area. Futhermore, six suspects have also been detained in the case and are being questioned by the investigators.

The police had immediately carried out a threat assessment in the infamous Mitraon and Dichao Kalan villages and have zeroed in on families whose members are currently behind bars. They have reason to believe that the families of jailed gangsters are vulnerable to revenge killings and extra security has been provided in the area.

“We have carried out a threat assessment in the area and have also approached the families of jailed gangsters in the area. We are currently talking to them and are trying to figure out the families who are at risk. We have also deployed additional policemen in the area and have also set up additional barricades,” said a senior police official.

The police are currently questioning the six suspects and have claimed that they are close to cracking the case. In the meantime, the police have started talking to village elders in the community in a bid to broker peace in the region.

The police have also apprehended six suspects who may be connected to the killing of Shri Kishan. The police had initially believed that slain exMLA, Bharat Singh’s brother Kishan Pehelwan and his associated were behind the killing. But after questioning Pehelwan and his associates, the police have claimed that Pehelwan was not behind the murder.

The police now have reason to believe that Kapil Sangwan and Suraj Bhan may be involved in the killing. The reason why they suspect is because Manjeet Mahal and his associate Nafe, alias Mantri, had gunned down Sunil, alias Doctor, which started the reprisal killings.
