GREATER NOIDA: Two persons were killed and one was injured in two separate accidents caused by dense fog in Greater Noida on Monday. A motorcycle rider of Village Derin Gujran, Dankaur was killed after being hit by a Mahindra pick up van on the Sikandrabad-dankaur Road.

“The deceased, Sandeep (35), was returning home on his motorcycle when he was hit by a Mahindra pick up van and suffered a severe head injury. He died on the spot. The driver of the pick up van is absconding after the accident. The body has been sent for the post-mortem. We have recovered the vehicle and we are trying to identify the accused driver,” said Rajpal Singh Tomar, Station Officer, Dankaur Police Station.

In another accident on Sunday midnight, a truck carrying green chillies crashed near Zero-point in Greater Noida. “We received the information at around 9 am that a truck carrying green chillies has crashed near the roundabout at Zeropoint, Greater Noida. The deceased driver has been identified as Abid (24), who was a native of Madhya Pradesh. Co-driver, Mustakeem, however, survived but suffered some injuries,” Said Manish Sharma, Station House Officer, Knowledge Park, Greater Noida.

“The truck was coming from Agra via Yamuna Expressway. It was dense fog on Sunday midnight and driver might have lost control over the truck as he saw the roundabout and the truck banged into the side railings of the road. The body of the deceased has been sent for the post-mortem,” added sharma.

Due to very dense fog, the visibility shrunk down to nil in many other areas of the region. The estimated reason behind both the accidents is fog-engulfed roads as the visibility dropped to at least 50 metre.
