NEW DELHI: In a shocking incident, a seven-year-old girl studying at a government girl’s school in Moti Nagar has alleged that she was sexually assaulted by her seniors who are in Class 8 and 9. The girl has alleged that she was taken into vacant classrooms during lunch breaks or when the school ended and would be sexually violated.

The police have apprehended both the girls. One of them, a 19-year-old studying in class ninth, had dropped out for several years as she failed to pass her exams. The victim is currently being counseled by a local NGO to help her ease her trauma.

The case came to light on Saturday around 12.10 pm, when the father of the victim called the police to inform them that her daughter had been sexually violated.

“We received a PCR call from the victim’s father. His 7-year-old girl complained that she was sexually violated by her seniors in the school. We sent in a team comprising of women officers and local NGO staff to investigate the case,” said Joint Commissioner of Police (South Western Range), Dependra Pathak.

When the police reached the spot and investigated the case, they found that the girl was sexually assaulted over a 3-4 month period by her seniors.

The girl was later sent for a medical test after which she was handed over to the NGO for counselling sessions.

The police have termed the girls’ act as a case of ‘sexual perversion’ and ‘lesbianism’.

“The girls would make the victim take her clothes off and they would then order her to lick their private parts. When she would refuse to do so, they would threaten her and force her to do the same,” said a senior police official privy to the investigation.

The police have registered the case under sections 328/34 IPC and relevant sections of the POCSO Act.

The police have denied that any other girl was also targeted by the duo.

“We are currently talking to the school staff regarding the case. We will also conduct a sensitisation programme in the school in the coming time on the subject,” Pathak added.
