COPS RESCUE KIDNAPPED 7-YR-OLD

- OUR CORRESPONDENT

NEW DELHI: A seven-yearold boy was reunited with his family after police succeeded in cracking his kidnapping case within 24 hours and arrested some previous neighbours of the victim boy in North West Delhi’s Netaji Subhash Place.

On February 25, the boy was kidnapped from outside his house in Subhash Place by two men in their twenties when he was playing.

It may be noted here that the cops got their first clue from the boy’s friend, who told cops that before escaping with the boy on a scooty, the kidnappers had induced him into accompanying them by saying “Chal tujhe tere mama ke paas lekar chalte hain” (Come, let’s take you to your uncle).

During the course of investigation, police explored all probable angles that might have led to the kidnapping, including family rivalry, monetary issues, any disputes or personal enmity with someone in recent past, an attempt of sexual offence on the child and such others.

When the kidnappers lured the boy by offering to take him to his uncle’s house, his alert friend who was playing with him at the time remembered the exact words they said. He informed the cops about the sentence, which gave them a vital clue and helped them zero in on the kidnappers, who are of the same age as the victim’s maternal uncle. The family then got a ransom call of demanding Rs 5,00,000 in exchange for the boy.

Slowly, police gathered more evidence based on which their suspicion strongly turned towards a former lover of the sister of victim’s mother. The suspect was identified as one Mohd Kapil, a resident of Shakurpur.

“Police then laid down a trap for Kapil and his associates. Finally, the efforts of the police bore fruit. By the evening, Kapil and two other co-accused were nabbed and the boy was safely rescued from their clutches,” said Vijayanta Arya, Additional DCP North West.
