NEW DELHI: A security guard was bludgeoned to death outside the premises of a school in North Delhi’s Sarai Rohilla area on Sunday night.

The guard Pawan Kumar (35) had stopped the accused and his female friend from forcefully entering the premises, after which the accused youth attacked Pawan with a brick.

The accused, identified as Rohit, was nabbed after he was identified by a CCTV grab of the incident.

Pawan had been posted outside the school premises on Sunday night. He had been working as a security guard for the past seven years. Just before he was attacked, Pawan and one of his colleagues were having dinner.

Suddenly, he saw Rohit and his female friend trying to jump the wall and forcefully enter the school.

Rohit was allegedly drunk and picked a fight with the guard and told him that he would enter the school any way possible. The argument soon turned physical when Rohit flung a brick at Pawan.

The guard then tried to get hold of Rohit, but the latter pinned him down and again hit him on the head with the brick. Rohit and his friend then fled the spot.

Around 11.30 pm, Pawan’s brother made a call to the PCR. Soon, the police rushed him to the local hospital where he was declared brought dead on arrival.

Police later managed to apprehend the youth.

During interrogation, the accused said that Pawan had agitated him after he was stopped from entering the school and thought of teaching him a lesson by attacking him with a brick.
