E-WAY MISHAP: ONE MEDICAL STUDENT KILLED, ANOTHER CRITICAL

- RAHUL SINGH

NOIDA: A 23-year-old medical student of Sharda University was killed and a fellow 25-year-old student was critically injured in a road accident late Sunday night near Sector-150 at Noida-greater Noida Expressway.

“The incident took place on Sunday midnight near Safipur village, Sector-150, Noida when the students were going to their university campus in Greater Noida. The deceased MBBS student was identified as Shubham Nag from Palampur in Himachal Pradesh. The other student, Aaryan Dhillon, from Chandigarh was critically injured. He suffered severe injuries to his rib cage and is critical. He is being treated in the ICU of Sharda Hospital,” said Manish Kumar Sharma, SHO, Knowledge Park police station.

“Both students were rushed to Sharda Hospital, where Shubham was declared brought dead. As no other vehicle was involved in the crash, it is likely that the driver was over speeding and lost control of the vehicle near a curve on the expressway. The car skidded and turned over several times as that particular patch of expressway is rugged. We have informed the family and the body has been sent for post-mortem,” added Sharma.

The duo was travelling in a red Honda Jazz. Shubham was driving the car and Aaryan was seated beside him. The car was damaged beyond recognition on the driver’s side, which likely killed Shubham on impact. Both students had completed their MBBS course and were pursuing their internship. Last week, another student of Sharda University, Paras Ahluwalia, died in a similar road accident on Noida-greater Noida Expressway near Sector-144.
