SNUBBED Cong office BEARERS opt For AAP

Disappointed over ticket distribution for MCD polls, more than dozen of party workers and office bearers of Congress switched to Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday. Around 13 Congress workers have joined AAP, said Dileep Pandey, AAP’S Delhi convener.

The atmosphere of despair is seen at every level of the Congress Party and on today Sirajuddin Block general Seceretary , Deepak Joshi (Cong), Vishal Joshi (Cong), Veena Joshi (Cong) and Jamal Anjum ( Chandni Chowk, Secretary) etc.

Feeling dejected, president Ajay Maken could be seen in Delhi unit, even the old guard in the Congress has alleged ‘humiliation’ by the state leadership, stating that even their phone calls were left unanswered.

Former MLAS and former ministers, who were appointed observers for different Assembly constituencies, have been miffed at the candidate selection done by the party’s state leadership.

Dr AK Walia, a senior party leader, and former Delhi Health Minister, had offered to quit the party following what he called were “irregularities in ticket distribution”. Walia said, “The party reached out to me after several rounds of discussions, I decided to stay in the pasrty.” Alleging the ‘utter neglect’ of efficient party workers, former party MLA Amrish Singh Gautam with his son had left his party and joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on April 3 while Walia had threatened to quit.

Former Delhi transport and power minister Haroon Yusuf expressing his displeasure said, “We have been associated with the party for long and we have contributed a lot to the party. It is true that the local Congress leadership was ignored including me. But I will never go against the party.”

However, former president of Delhi Congress and senior leader Subhash Chopra rejected charges of ‘irregularities’ in ticket distribution saying it was ‘more transparent’ this time. “Resentment is bound to be there when there are 10-12 applicants from each ward,” he said.
