Section 144 in 11 Delhi districts
NEW DELHI: Minutes after the verdict convicting Dera Saccha Sauda chief Ram Rahim of rape in Panchkula, train bogies were burnt and several incidents of DTC buses being set on fire reported from Delhi, Haryana. “Section 144 of the CRPC was imposed in 11 districts of Delhi, excluding Central and North. A total of five persons have been arrested so far,” informed Delhi Police PRO Madhur Verma.
Violence was reported at least from nine different place across the capital and soon the mobile clips of burning and arson in buses in Jyoti Nagar, Khayala, Jahangirpuri and Badarpur were doing rounds.
Minutes later, security in Delhi was thrown into a tizzy with senior police officers right from Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik to Special CP law and order SBK Singh tweeting about the volatile situation. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal appealed for peace while the lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal also directed the Commissioner of Police to take effective measures to curb violence.
The first incident was reported from Jyoti Nagar in North East Delhi where some miscreants were seen torching a DTC bus to flames at around 4:29 pm. Twenty to thirty people gathered at the spot and started pelting stones on the bus. The cops also issued a video footage appealing the public to identify bike borne men seen fleeing on a bike. Minutes later at Harsh Vihar, some men tried to pour oil at Saboli Railway crossing.
Almost at the same time Delhi fire service received a call from Jahangirpuri in North West Delhi that a bus has been set on fire near BJRM hospital. Reports said that a crowd of 150 people gathered and two bike borne men set the bus on Fire.
At 4:52 pm the miscreants tar- geted two trains standing at the yard of Anand Vihar Railway station. “Two bogies of two different trains Rewa Express and Tripura Sundari Express were set on fire by unknown persons. No one was injured in the incident but we are investigating the cause of fire. Said DCP railways Parwaiz Ahmed.
In Khayala of West Delhi a cluster bus was set on fire, however this time the vigilant cops were able to catch two men namely Shyam Lal and Satropa with bottles of kerosene. At around 5:16 pm another call was received from Badarpur in South East Delhi that a bus has been ransacked by two unknown boys and minutes later a fire in bus was reported at Bhajanpura.
The situation compelled the Delhi Police to issue orders to all Joint Cps, DCPS , ACPS and SHOS to patroll in their respective areas and prevent any untoward incident by Ram Rahim Followers in Delhi.
