Govt will make aviation accessible to the masses, says PM Modi
RAJKOT: Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the aviation policies of Centre and asserted that the government would make aviation affordable so that it could be accessible to the masses. “Aviation is now affordable to the less privileged and is not only for rich. Each and every one can travel through flights,” Modi added.
He has also mentioned that there is an increase of 14 per cent to the air passengers. The ‘UDAN' scheme by the Government of India aims to connect all small cities with mega cities. “In the coming days, all states will have 10-12 airports respectively,” the Prime Minister asserted while laying foundation stone of Rajkot Green Field Airport at Hirasar on Saturday.
During his address, he also mentioned that only 4 per cent land has been acquired from the farmers of Surendranagar and 96 per cent is barren land of the new airport project of Rs 2,500 crore. It is a joint project of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Gujarat government. In July, the Centre had given a green signal to this project.
There are 10 Domestic Air- ports in Gujarat. Thus both the Prime Minister and the Union Minister for Civil Aviation Gajapati Raju feel that the new International Airport will help more international connectivity-which will enhance more business fluency and job generation.
“India did not have an aviation policy since the Independence. Our government made one and decided to strengthen the sector more, increasing the air connection and fixed the fare to Rs. 2, 500,” PM Modi mentioned further.
Apart from the aviation policy, the Prime Minister also extolled the both incumbent governments- Centre's and State's effort for development. He also claimed that Saurashtrawhich was a dry sector is now facilitated by water connectivity through canals from Narmada River. Modi also urged to save water is gifted by the God. “I urge the people to use Sprinke System in agriculture that will help in saving water,” he further added.
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, former Chief Minister Anandiben Patel and state minister Parsottambhai Rupala were also present during the event.
