Two-day festival to embrace Korean culture and heritage

A TWO DAY KOREA FESTIVAL showcasing country’s rich art, culture and heritage kicked off on November 27, amidst much fanfare and authentic Korean performanc­es. An initiative by Korea Tourism and Organisati­on, the festival was inaugurate­d by Min Hong Min, Executive Vice President, Korea Tourism Organisati­on (KTO), at Ambience Mall, Gurugram, along with Suman Billa, Joint Secretary Ministry Of Tourism. The inaugurati­on also witnessed the presence of other eminent representa­tives from regional Tourism Boards of South Korea and related organizati­ons such as Gyeonggi Tourism Organizati­on, Gimhae City, Busan Metropolit­an City, Busan Tourism Organizati­on, Jeollabuk Do, Gwangju Metropolit­an City, Gwangju Convention and Visitors Bureau, Incheon Internatio­nal Airport Corporatio­n and Visit Korea Committee. The festival also marked the signing of MOU between leading Korean companies such as LG, Hyundai, Sam- sung, and KTO. The aim is to promote tourism through organizing MICE groups to Korea for their employees and dealers. An endeavour to give a boost to the existing MICE tourism business to Korea, the associatio­n would bring public-private bodies together to achieve larger growth in the tourism arena. The festival also displayed food counters (managed by Korea Agro-fisheries and Food Trade Cooperatio­n) to give a taste of the local Korean flavours to serve Indian taste buds besides featuring experienti­al attraction­s like face mask painting, Hangeul calligraph­y and video gallery exhibiting Korean history and cultural assets. Furthermor­e, the K- Beauty zone by famous Korean beauty brand Innisfree offered free makeup sessions and samples to the visitors at the festival. A special Virtual Reality zone and Photoop Booth had been created for the visitors to get themselves clicked wearing Korean Traditiona­l Hanbok dress with a customized background. Speaking at the inaugurati­on, Executive Vice President Min Hong Min said “We have organized the festival for Indians to feel and experience Korean traditiona­l and modern culture represente­d by Korean Wave. I hope this two days’ event will help Indian people understand and feel Korean ethnicity. Besides, we have brought the leading airlines and travel bodies at the festival to promote Korea tour products and promotions so that our visitors can make the best of everything.” Jong Sool Kwon, Director Korea Tourism Organisati­on India (KTO) said “Korea Tourism Organizati­on is entering a new dimension of tourism promotion in India with the festival.
