Five arrested for robbing Ghaziabad doctor at gunpoint
GHAZIABAD: Ghaziabad Police on Saturday solved a dacoity committed at a doctor’s residence on November 28 and arrested all the accused and recovered all the looted valuables.
“On the basis of CCTV footage, police cracked the case and arrested the five robbers involved,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) HN Singh told media persons.
Among the stolen articles recovered by police were gold jewellery and cash. Cops also seized the weapons used in the crime.
The SSP said that after getting clues from the CCTV footage, cops located the suspects and immediately apprehended them. After interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime and led the police to their hideout when the stolen items were stored. The accused have been identified as Gaurav Thakur of Bareilly, Yogendra Pal of Meerut, and Sonu, Deepak and Billu – all residents of Bulandshahr.
Cops recovered cash worth Rs 2.60 lakh, eight silver coins, a gold coin, an iphone, four silver glasses, two pistols, a knife and two motorcycles, among other articles.
Screening of their crime record revealed that the accused were involved in 22 criminal cases in Ghaziabad and surrounding areas.
On the morning of November 28, the accused had robbed a doctor’s house in Vasundhara residential locality under Indirapuram police station of Ghaziabad.
Posing as patients, the accused barged into the residence-cum-clinic of neurologist Dr Neeraj Agrawal. Using the staircase, they reached the first floor of the house where the doctor, his wife and mother live. They overpowered the doctor and robbed him at gunpoint.
