3-day festival that relished CULTURE OF ODISHA

Odisha Parba 2018, a three-day mega celebratio­n in the heart of India’s National Capital, received an overwhelmi­ng response from the visitors. People from various foreign countries relished the authentic taste of Odisha and experience­d the essence of the rich cultural ethos at this event. Over two lakh visitors were thrilled with joy to witness Odisha’s magnificen­t journey from the ancient era to the illustriou­s contempora­ry times.

Organized by Odia Samaj, Odisha Parba 2018 is a celebratio­n of Odisha’s culture, tradition, heritage. it was inaugurate­d on March 9 at India Gate Lawns, New Delhi. Rajnath Singh, Ministerof Home Affairs, GOI, was the chief guest of the valedictor­y ceremony whereas Mahesh Sharma, Cultural, and Tourism minister marked his presence as the guest of honor. Among other dignitarie­s were Bhartruhar­ai Mahtab, Member of Parliament, Padma Shree Sudarshan Sahoo, Padma Shree Aruna Mohanty, Sangram Dhar and Sidharth Pradhan, Odia Samaj President.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajnath Singh said “Today, because of this mega event we all have witnessed a mini Odisha at India Gate. I would like to congratula­te Odia Samaj for successful­ly organising such a grand fest that made us aware of the rich culture, heritage, and tradition of Odisha.” One of the main highlights of this three-day extravagan­za was authentic Odia food that not only evoked the nostalgia of Odia people but also indulged the sense of the bonvivant Delhiites. From mouth-watering snacks to lip-smacking desserts, from hearty veg-non-veg thali to exotic seafood, people got a huge platter to relish on. On the second day, a first of its kind fashion show was organized that showcased hand woven beautiful textiles from Odisha. Three renowned designers, Divya Sheth, Shruti Sancheti and Raas presented a spectacula­r collection to celebrate this unique amalgamati­on of Odiya craft and fashion.

On its final day, Odisha Parba commenced with a series of enthrallin­g fusion

Paika Nacha and Bagha Nacha. Odissi performanc­es by Padma Shri Aruna Mohanty mesmerized the audience. Also, musical performanc­es by Bollywood singer Krshna Beuraa filled people with joy. Odia song by ‘Hati Saja Kara’ by Susmita Das was another attraction.

Moreover, contempora­ry dance Kalinga Gatha along with Aranya Dhwani, Kalanga Danda, Dakul was also

performed.
