GIRL JUMPS TO DEATH

GHAZIABAD: A 15-year old class nine girl student allegedly committed suicide by jumping from her balcony located at the 12th floor apartment of a high rise residentia­l society in Govindpuru­ram area of Ghaziabad on the intervenin­g night of Sunday and Monday.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Shalini Dagar, a student of Green Field Public School. The incident was reported from Gaur homes society and occurred at around 2 am on Monday when Shalini died after jumping from the balcony of the flat when everyone were asleep. Police suspect it a case of suicide, however they are also not ruling out any possibilit­y of foul play. The police have sent the body for postmortem.

"Upon hearing the falling sound, the guards of the society raised an alarm and informed the police and she was rushed to the hospital where she was declared brought dead,” said a senior police officer. The family members of the deceased were informed by the police. Police said that Shalini was watching TV till 12 am with the family members after which she went to her room to sleep.

"Her elder sister and her younger brother were asleep when the incident took place.

Her father Rakesh Dagar had died an year ago, since then Shalini was mentally disturbed,” said a senior police officer. Sources claimed that Shalini had also tried to commit suicide by cutting her veins around 5 months back and was undergoing treatment at a psychiatri­st for depression. "The family has given in written that they do no want any investigat­ion in the case. The postmortem reports have revealed internal injuries to brain as the case of death,” officer added.
