Tabling its Budget for the 2018-19 fiscal year, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Wednesday launched 14 new housing schemes and projects in Dwarka and Rohini to make Delhi a ‘world class cities’.

“We are introducing 15 new development schemes and 14 new housing and related development works,” noted the Budget report, adding that request for proposal (RFP) to develop vacant areas in Dwarka and Rohini cities has been floated.

“We have started the construction of a rail-over-bridge (ROB) at Narela. We will also build a multi-purpose community hall at Block-e, Sector-16, Rohini,” noted the report.

The Authority’s report noted that the Budget expenditure for 2018-19 has been set at Rs 8,032 crore, projecting a growth of 67 per cent over 2017-18 for Rs 5,295 crore.

The Budget receipts for 2018-19 have been set at Rs 5,197 crore, projecting a rise of 52 per cent over the 2017-18 Budget of Rs 3,637 crore

“The estimated receipt of Rs 5,197 crore in 2018-19 is expected to be mainly from disposal of houses and shops at Rs 1,525 crore, from the disposal of lands at Rs 2,206 crore and other receipts at Rs 1,466 crores,” noted the report.

The DDA Budget report further stated that three pilot projects on in-situ rehabilitation are under progress at Kalkaji, Jailorwala Bagh and Kathputili Colony.

“Construction of five sociocultural centres in Rohini, Dwarka, CBD Shahdara, Mayur Place and Netaji Subhash Place is at the planning stage,” the report noted.

It also stated that development work at Sultangarhi Tomb Conservation Complex in Vasant Kunj, rejuvenation and restoration of River Yamuna and upgradation of Vasant Udyan at Vasant Kunj are in progress.

In its Budget, the Authority has also focused on increasing the floor area ratio (FAR) limits. FAR limits are a vital cause of sealing of properties.

“For Ease of Doing Business, it was felt to make an apportionment of FAR simple, transparent, on-line with minimum human intervention. For this, a fixed factor or quotient of enhanced FAR shall be put on the website,” noted the report.

In the Budget tabled on Wednesday, the Authority also explained the new formula to calculate FAR.

The DDA Budget also noted that the agency is working to promote public parking. There is a provision of five per cent additional ground coverage in Master Plan Delhi-2021 for multi-level parking.

The agency has also decided that 794 one-bedroom flats – 574 in Sector-34, Rohini and 220 flats at Siraspur – would be allotted to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), since DDA has sufficient stock of one-bedroom flats.
