NEW DELHI: The Special Cell of Delhi Police on Sunday said they have arrested the fourth accused allegedly involved in the plot to assassinate Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board chairman Waseem Rizvi.

According to Deputy commissioner of police (special cell) PK Kushwah, the accused was identified as Dharmendra Sharma (42) and arrested from Charkhi Dadri in Haryana on Saturday.

Kushwah said that the accused was directed by underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and his key lieutenant Chhota Shakeel to murder Rizvi.

On Thursday, three men were arrested in the case from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh.

Kushwah stated that in the past few months, inputs were received by Special Cell that Chotta Shakeel, under directions from Dawood, has been planning some subversive activities in India.

“This information was further developed, which revealed that one Salim from Bulandshahr had recently returned from Dubai and was in constant touch with Dubai based underworld operatives,” said the DCP.

He further said that Salim’s activities were monitored, which revealed that he and his associates Arif and others were planning to assassinate Waseem Rizvi, Chairman of UP Shia Central Waqf Board, Lucknow,”
