MILD STORM BRINGS RESPITE FROM HEAT IN DELHI-NCR
NEW DELHI: Mild storm on Friday evening brought respite from the heat in the National Capital Region (NCR). Several parts of Delhi, Noida and Faridabad witnessed gusty winds accompanied with dust. Delhiites on Friday woke up to a humid morning, but later in the day, it was hot as usual, with the temperature hovering around 42 degrees Celsius.
On Thursday, the mercury settled at 41.2 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature was 29.4 degrees Celsius. However, the temperatures are still high, crossing the 40°C mark. These high temperatures in combination with increased humidity levels have led to increased discomfort among the residents of the national capital. As per Skymet Weather, there is no expectation of any significant weather activity over Delhi and NCR in the coming days as the frequency of the Western Disturbances has reduced which induces cyclonic circulation in Northwest India. The temperatures are likely to settle in the early to mid-40s. “The sky conditions will also continue to remain clear with sunny sky conditions. Thus, no relief is expected from the scorching hot weather for at least during the next three to four days,” said an official.
The official added heatwave conditions are not expected to make a comeback, though heatwave-like conditions would prevail. As per weathermen, the normal Monsoon onset date for Delhi is June 28. “We expect pre-monsoon activities to commence around June 15, which would continue for a few days,” the weathermen said. Meanwhile, police claimed that nine calls regarding falling of tree and pole and wall/roof collapse have been received from different parts of the city.
