Family beaten up, robbers scoot with cash, jewellery

NEW DELHI: A family was beaten up and manhandled by a group of robbers which made away with cash and jewellery in East Delhi's Preet Vihar area. Police claimed that they have registered a case and started the investigat­ion. According to the police, the incident was reported on Friday, when the group of robbers entered the house of a businessma­n in Preet Vihar area. Manmohan Bansal, who owns a hardware shop in Chawri Bazaar, was sleeping with his family when the incident took place.

The robbers, who had covered their faces, climbed over the wall. They were carrying arms with which they hit the Bansals. The accused tied the victims' legs and hands before thrashing them. The accused attacked him with hands and iron rods.

The accused fled with the cash and jewellery. The police were informed about the incident who have started their investigat­ion from all angles. The CCTV of the area was scanned to get some clues about the incident. The robbers had hit hard on the head of a servant, Ajay, and had tied him up on the terrace.

The Delhi Police has prepared a compendium of around 1,000 pages having the names of more than 1,000 active snatchers and robbers in the national Capital. Approximat­ely 465 active snatchers and around 576 active robbers are named in the compendium. The compendium had all the details of the criminals and their case history. The criminals are not from Delhi NCR. North East Delhi has the highest number of robbers and snatchers whereas the Central Delhi has the least.
