NEW DELHI: After a meeting with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the issue of Services department of the Delhi government, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the Home Minister assured him to go through all the points raised and would again hold a meeting with him on July 16.

“I have explained our observations from the SC judgment and I felt that the Home Minister was trying to understand every point carefully,” said Kejriwal.

The Chief Minister further said that the Singh would be out of the country for three days and after that, he would discuss the matter with the officers.

“He assured that after the discussion with the officials of his department the, Home Minister will meet me on July 16,” said the CM.

When asked about the petition filed in the SC on the matter of the Services department, the Chief Minister said, “If the home minister agrees to our thoughts and gives us the services department then the SC petition will just become a formality.”

On July 4, the Supreme Court ruled that the position of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi was not that of a Governor but an administrator only “in a limited sense”.

Two days later, the Chief Minister alleged that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has told LG Anil Baijal to ignore the part of the Supreme Court order which limits the LG’S power to just three areas.

“MHA has advised LG to ignore that part of SC order, which restricts LG’S powers to only 3 subjects. V dangerous that central govt advising LG not to follow Hon’ble SC’S orders,” alleged Kejriwal on Twitter on 6 July.

“Have sought time from Rajnath Singh to urge him to follow Hon’ble SC’S orders,” he added.
