Cops posed as customers to arrest cheat
NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police has arrested one swindler, who cheated 19 innocent public persons by luring them about the selling of plots at cheap rates in Bahadurgarh, Haryana and took away a total sum of Rs. 61 lakh as token money. The man identified as Bhupender, aged 48 years, has cheated several people around Bindapur in Dwarka, Delhi. In this regard, the victims filed close to 25 complaints with the police.
“Accused Bhupender had been absconding for the last six months and not traceable and even proceedings under sections 82 CRPC (Proclamation for person absconding) were initiated against him on the order of Hon'ble Court. Staff of Bindapur police station had been looking to nab this person with their all-out efforts,” said DCP Dwarka, Anto Alphonse.
A police team moved to Anoop Shahar, Bulandsahar, UP in his search. During the raid, cops found out that the accused was working as a property dealer. The police team then changed strategy and professionally reached at the said office in civil uniform and represented themselves as a party interested in purchasing a 500 yards plot. There they met with a boy (later it was found that the boy was the son of the accused).
Only after getting convinced that the interesting party is genuine and not from the police, the accused come in front after making the police party wait for a long time. The accused had also hired a gunman for his safety. The police party then immediately came into action and nabbed the accused.
During interrogation, it was revealed that Bhupender, a resident of District Bulandsahar, UP worked as a property dealer. His wife was in politics and was Block Pramukh of local area and Bhupender was also known as “Pradhan ji” in the area. No one in the surrounding area dare to take him enmity by telling his where about to the police. This was the main reason that the police raids were failing despite of many attempts.
