Ola drivers among eight held for theft in Dwarka

NEW DELHI: Eight people have been arrested and Rs 52 lakh recovered, after a police team of Dwarka district analyzed CCTV footage of a robbery in the area. Police claimed that two of the accused were Ola cab drivers.

According to police, the accused were identified as Ashish Chaudhary (29) and Rahul Chauhan (28), both Ola drivers, and their associates were Dipanshu Singh (28), Karan (26), Abhishek Sharma (23), Radhey Shyam (39) and 37-year-old Ajay who works in a cargo clearing company at IGI Airport.

Cops said that on Wednesday, a tip-off about the robbery at a house in Vijay Enclave, Dabri was received. It was

learnt that the owner Pradeep was also stabbed in the execution of the robbery. On receipt of the informatio­n, the injured had already been shifted to a hospital by his wife and relatives. Household articles were

lying scattered in the home. “The victim’s wife informed that around 4.30 am, she heard the noise of someone knocking at the door of her bedroom. As she opened the door, threefour people forcibly entered the room and overpowere­d her. One of them, who had a pistol overpowere­d her husband and another person caught hold of both their children,” said Deputy Commission­er of Police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse.

He added that when her husband tried to resist, one of them stabbed him, and went on to ransack the house.
